Apology from SCORE for Sudden Cancellation of Introduction to Business Workshop

Freda,

I am writing this letter as an apology for the unfortunate sequence of events that culminated in yesterday's sudden cancelation of the "Introduction of Business" workshop by SCORE.

It was a mistake, on my part, for selecting the venue that I did. Never did I realize the sensitivity that the Chamber had to politics of any sort. Even though I had assured them, that you had informed me, that this was a community service, they were still somewhat
skeptical. Unfortunately, I was otherwise occupied till after 3 and it was too late to work something out.

I am sure this had left a bad taste of SCORE in the participants. Hopefully, with better planning, we can reschedule the workshop, and reestablish our reputation as a worthwhile community service. And once again my apologies to you and the members of the Davie Black Caucus.

SCORE, Chapter 17

Response to Cancellation of Business Workshop

Ed-

First, I accept your apology as I realize it was politics as usual on the part of my opponent. My opponent is good friends with someone at the chamber.

For the record, I never sent out anything saying it was a campaign event. Anyone in the world can create a document and include my campaign disclaimer. This was dirty politics as usual.

As you know, I have been providing business counseling for the past 6 years. I have sponsored 3-day business conferences throughout the entire state of Florida. Namely last year I was planning a Small Business Symposium to include speakers such as Alex Sink, Don Winstead, the Minority Chamber of Commerce, and more.

As you acknowledged, you are the one who recommended the Chamber as a location. In fact, I would have preferred to use NSU because of my relationship with the university. I held a 3-day conference at NSU a few years ago. I flew in speakers from around the world. It was wonderful.

If you will recall you contacted me about setting this event up with the Black Caucus. I was trying to address a critical need in the community. I have been a community servant since age 14.

It is a shame that politics as usual has hindered residents once again. Thank you for the apology.

Regards,
Freda
